Rehabilitation
Spring 2024 // Motion Graphic
Inspired by the UF Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, this animation defines the word “rehabiliation” and visualizes the release of sea turtles after they are treated at the lab’s Sea Turtle Hospital. The audience in mind for this motion graphic are younger children who would visit natural science museums or places like the Whitney Laboratory on a school trip. Breaking down the word into three parts and visually bringing them together, the graphic helps them gain a better understanding of what the word means and how it is associated with Lab specifically. The animation was made using After Effects and Illustrator.
Process
Moodboard and Research
To get a better sense of the look and feel of the project, I went through the laboratory’s website to and found some pictures of really cute baby turtles as well as more information on what they do. I then created a moodboard to get an idea for color scheme and what kind of visual elements I would include. After Effects was a program I had only used a few times at this point, so I watched tutorials to get more comfortable with it and find specific techniques I would incorporate.
